Today is the 162nd birthday of India’s first Nobel laureate, Rabindranath Tagore. Through his poetry and his writings, through his music and his paintings, Tagore made a great contribution to Indian literature, music and art.

Rabindranath Tagore is known by many names – Gurudev, Kabiguru, Biswakabi and is often called “the bard of Bengal”.

Biography of Rabindranath Tagore

Rabindranath was a man of many talents. People all over the world recognized him for his literary works – poetry, philosophy, plays and especially his poetry. Rabindranath Tagore was the man who gave India its national anthem. He is one of the greatest industrialists of all time and the only Indian to win the Nobel Prize. Rabindranath Tagore won the Nobel Prize in 1913, becoming the first non-European to receive this honor.

He was only sixteen years old when his first short story titled “Bhanisimha” was published. Rabindranath Tagore was born on May 7, 1861 in Calcutta. Rabindranath Tagore was the son of Debendranath Tagore, one of the most active members of the Brahmo Samaj, a famous philosopher and scholar. R.N Tagore died after a long illness on August 7, 1941.

Education

Rabindranath Tagore’s traditional education began in Brighton, East Sussex, England, at a state school. He was sent to England in 1878 because his father wanted him to become a lawyer. He later accompanied him and some of his relatives such as his niece, nephew and sister-in-law to support him during his time in England.

Rabindranath always neglected formal education, so he was not interested in learning in his school. He was enrolled at University College London, where he was instructed to study law. But he stopped again and learned many of Shakespeare’s works on his own. After studying mainly English, Irish and Scottish music, he returned to India and married Mrinalini Devi when he was only 10 years old.

R.N Tagore was only eight years old when he first wrote a poem. At the age of sixteen, his short story, titled “Bhanusimha”, was published. R.N Tagore’s contribution to literature is immense. He introduced new verses and sayings and lingua franca in his mother tongue, Bengali. R.N Tagore when he returned to India after graduation, but he did not leave school.

RN Tagore has published many books of poetry and short stories, poems and songs of Rabindranath Tagore. His work was most famous, accepted by the “Gitianvali”, received the whole world in India in England. He was a second country, who are “EMAR SENAR BANGLA” for Bangladesh and “Jana Gana but” for India.

He worked in unknown genres and genres in Bengali language. Some of them are deeply immersed in social and political satire. He was one of those who believed in world peace and equality. He is one of the pioneers of contemporary Bengali literature. When he returned to India, he wrote and published his book of poems titled “Manasi” which is supposed to contain his best poems.

“Manasi” contains many types of verse that are new in contemporary Bengali literature, and it also contains political and social satire that questions and mocks fellow Bengalis R.N Tagore. In addition to writing and working on books, R.N Tagore was also involved in the family business. In 1891, he went to East Bengal, now Bangladesh, to take care of his ancestral lands in Shahzadpur and Shilaidaha for almost 10 years.

He spent some time in a canoe on the banks of the Padma River, and his compassion for the local people became the subject of many books later in his life. In eastern India, poems and other works of Rabindranath Tagore have been published in a collection called “Sonar Tari” and a famous and famous play called “Chitrangada”. He has written more than two thousand popular songs in Bengal so far. When R.N Tagore was 60 years old, he tried his hand at painting, for a talented person he was, his work made him famous among contemporary Indian artists.

Awards and Achievements of Rabindranath Tagore

On November 14, 1913, Tagore was awarded the “Nobel Prize for Literature” in recognition of his great achievements in journalism. In 1919, following the “Jallianwala Bagh Massacre”, he gave up his 1915 laugh. In 1940, “Oxford University” awarded him a doctorate in literature in a special ceremony held at Shantiniketan.
