Kuldeep Yadav is an Indian cricketer born on 14 December 1994 in Kanpur City in Uttar Pradesh, India. He plays for the Uttar Pradesh Ranji team in Indian domestic cricket. Kuldeep Yadav started playing cricket as a fast bowler and wanted to become a left-arm bowler,
but his coach insisted that he should be an off-spinner because of his home. He started playing cricket for his state team Uttar Pradesh and national cricket. Kuldeep made his debut for India in 2017.
Kuldeep Yadav was a member of the Mumbai Indians team in the 2012 IPL season. In the 2014 IPL auction, Kuldeep was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders. He was bought by KKR for 8.5 Crores in 2018 and since then he has been part of the KKR team.
This is the second time since India’s Bhuvneshwar Kumar took a 5-wicket haul in all three formats, after Imran Tahir and Ajantha Mendis.
He became the first Indian batsman to win two caps in international cricket on December 18, 2019. In 2019, Yadav took his second five-wicket haul of 5/99 in Tests, in Australia’s first innings in the fourth Test against Australia at the SCG and Yadav’s first Test match on Australian soil.
Yadav became the fastest Indian bowler ever, by innings, to take 100 wickets in One Day International cricket, in his 58th innings, in the second ODI against Australia on January 17, 2020.
Finally, all the efforts paid off and 2017 turned out to be an important year for Kuldeep Yadav. He made his international debut against Australia in March. In September 2017, he won an ODI cap while playing against Australia at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. He holds the distinction of being the first Chinese slow-arm left-armer to represent India in Test cricket. In June 2017,
Yadav made his ODI debut against West Indies. The T20I debut followed shortly after. In one year, he took five wickets in all three formats of the game. With his achievement, he joined the coveted group of cricketers Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Imran Tahir and Ajantha Mendis.
In January 2019, Yadav was a key figure against Australia and his outstanding performance helped him move up the rankings. In February 2019, he was ranked second in the T20 I rankings. Known for encouraging and supporting youngsters, Captain Kohli has always supported Yadav. He played an important role in helping Yadav secure the much sought-after court position. When Yadav made his Test debut, the Chinese bowler bowled India after 85 years. He also justified Kohli’s belief by having the wicket of David/Warner in Tests.
After cricket, football is Yadav’s favorite sport. He is a big fan of FC Barcelona. Yadav loves traveling and listening to music. His favorite song is The Monster by Eminem.
Australian bowler Shane Warne is Yadav’s favorite batsman.
Another famous Aussie, Michael Clarke, compared Kuldeep Yadav’s Chinese bowling to that of Brad Hogg. Like his teammate, Yuzvendar Chahal, Yadav says he is shy. He admits that he doesn’t talk much, however, he is always up for a game. The bright and friendly atmosphere of the locker room allows the team to work well on the pitch.
