Argentina beat France in the final and won the FIFA World Cup

FIFA World Cup 2022

Argentina beat France in what could be the final of the World Cup – a scoreline that went down to the wire… and in the end, a good old fashioned shootout. The game had everyone on the edge of their seats for the full 90 minutes of regulation time – not to mention another 30 minutes that were played after things were left at 2-2. Lionel Messi scored Argentina’s third goal in extra time and Kylian Mbappe responded by connecting again… sending the game to penalty kicks, while ARG was successful.

Lionel Messi led Argentina to victory in the 2022 FIFA World Cup Final and no one in the world was not inspired. The moment Messi realized Argentina had denied France victory was caught on camera and left GOAT fans in tears. A viral video shows Messi slumped to the ground as his teammates run up to him and hug each other.

Messi scored twice as Argentina beat France 4-2 on penalties on Sunday to win their third World Cup despite Kylian Mbappé’s late hat-trick going into the first round in 56 years .

Now there is no argument. In fact, Messi ranks among the greatest footballers, alongside Pele – a three-time World Cup winner from Brazil – and Diego Maradona, the late Argentine Messi is close behind.

Messi did what Maradona did in 1986, leading Argentina to the World Cup. Messi gave Argentina the lead with a penalty and Angel Di Maria’s goal made it 2-0 after 36 minutes.

Mbappé scored twice in 97 seconds to level the match, then scored his second goal in the 19th minute. But there was still time for another Mbappé penalty to take the exciting game to a shootout.

Gonzalo Montiel won the penalty after Kingsley Coman had an effort saved by Emi Martinez and Aurélien Tchouameni missed for France. Europe’s run of four consecutive World Cup winners has come to an end. The last South American champion was Brazil, and that was in Asia – when Japan and South Korea hosted the competition in 2002. Argentina won their previous World Cups in 1978 and 1986. In Qatar, the country confirmed their Copa America victory last year, their first trophy since 1993. It is the peak of Messi’s international career, which may not be over at the age of 35 as he plays as he is.

About Lionel Messi

Lionel Messi is a famous name even those who are not interested in sports. Although he is shorter than most of his teammates, he rises above his opponents with professional skills and a legendary ability to score goals for his team. Since childhood, Lionel Messi, nicknamed “Leo”, dreamed of becoming a professional football player. But his goals seem to be limited due to his physical weakness and financial constraints. No one could have predicted that after 17 years and 114 days of endless faith and dedication, the Argentine runner would run for his country.

France World Cup history

France hosted the World Cup for the third time in 1938 but did not make the final until 1998. The French came close in 1958 and 1986 but won the tournament for third place each time. In 1998, France faced Brazil, the most successful country in the tournament’s history. Former Real Madrid player and manager Zinedine Zidane scored twice in the match as France won their first World Cup. In the next tournament, France finished at the bottom of Group A, missing the round of 16 altogether. They went back in 2006, to the final against Italy. In front of 69,000 spectators in Berlin, Zidane made another record in World Cup history.

In extra time, Zidane and Italian defender Marco Materazzi were running on the pitch. Materazzi threw the French star’s shirt and Zidane responded by headbutting the Inter Milan defender. Zidane received a red card and Italy won the match. The Blues can’t qualify again until 2018. There they face Croatia, who are exciting runners-up for the first time. Goals from Mbappe and Paul Pogba helped France win their second World Cup in history.

News about the World Cup in Argentina

While the French have been waiting 68 years for their first appearance in the final, Argentina have no such wait. They participated in the first World Cup in 1930.

Argentina host Uruguay in their first World Cup. Uruguay took the lead in the 68th minute and a goal in the 89th minute sealed the title for the hosts.

Unfortunately, Argentina would find their way to the final in 1978. This time they are the hosts and have a bigger number of fan support.

The latter began with their opponents, the Netherlands, accusing the Argentines of stealing the lead. The visitors came out five minutes later to an expectedly enthusiastic crowd.

Valencia striker Mario Kempes opened the scoring in the 38th minute. The Dutch found an equalizer late on, sending the game into extra time. In extra time, Kempes scored again as striker Daniel Bertoni brought Argentina the World Cup. Their next final appearance was in the 1986 campaign. Argentina beat West Germany in the final, but it was what happened before the final that remains in football history. In the fourth round, Argentina faced England. In the second half, Argentine legend Diego Maradona jumped to shoot the ball in the air next to England manager Peter Shilton. Maradona kicked the ball with his left hand and into the English goal.
