Anurag Singh Kashyap is an Indian director, writer and producer. He is well known as a Bollywood film director. Anurag Kashyap was born on September 10, 1972 in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, India. His father’s name is Mr. Prakash Singh and his brother’s name is Abhinav Kashyap. He has a sister named Anubhuti Kashyap.
Anurag Kashyap married film editor Aarti Bajaj in 2003. His daughter Aaliyah Kashyap was born to him. However, the relationship did not last long and the two took to swimming in 2009. Kashyap is alone now. He met Kalki Koechlin in Ooti when he was involved in the making of the film “Dev D”. He married Kalki Koechlin in 2011 after being in a relationship for a few months. However, he could not work because of the relationship between the marriage, so he divorced her in 2015.
Anurag is a married and divorced man. He has been married twice now. Kashyap married editor Aarti Bajaj in 1997, with whom he has a daughter named Aaliyah Kashyap. But their married life ended after their divorce in 2009.
In 2011, he married Indian actress Kalki Koechlin for the second time, whom he first met while filming Dev D, at his mother’s house in Ooty. However, the couple separated after two years of marriage and got divorced in 2015 at the Bandra Family Court in Mumbai.
In 1995 she met a man named Pankaj Titoria. Pankaj Titoria presented it to editor and director Shivam Nair. “Taxi Driver” impressed Kashyap when he saw him with Shivam Nair. He wrote Hansal Mehta’s first television drama in 1997, “Jayate”, which was not released. In 1998, actor Manoj Bajpaye suggested that Ram Gopal Verma use his name in a script.
Finally, it was Ram Gopal Verma who hired him because of his work in “Auto Narayan”. He co-wrote the film Satya with Saurabh Shukla this season. Satya’s box office success led to his being hailed as one of the most successful Indian cinema projects. He wrote the dialogue for “Sool” and the screenplay for “Kaun” in 1999. In the same year, he also worked in the TV short “Last Train to Mahakali”.
“Paanch”, Kashyap’s first feature film, released in 2002. The 1976 massacre of the Joshi-Abhyankar gang was the basis for the film. The Central Board of Film Review initially had reservations about the film. Kashyap has written dialogues for many films including Paisa Vasool (2004), Yuva (2004) (Canadian film), Water (2005), Main Aisa Hi Hoon (2005), etc. However, Paanch got industry support later, he worked in 2002 in many film festivals. Hussain Zaidi’s book of the same name, about the 1993 Bombay bombings, served as inspiration for his role in the 2007 film “Black Friday.”
However, the Bombay High Court temporarily banned its broadcast pending an investigation into the blast. In the same year, “No smoking” was published, Stephen King’s short story “Quitters” is being worked on. In 2009, he created Anurag Kashyap Films, his own production company. His first film was “Udaan”, which was a hit. Among the few films directed by Kashyap include Shaitan (2011), Chittagong (2012), Aiyyaa (2012), etc. He co-wrote and directed the 2011 film “The Woman in Yellow Shoes” with Kalki Koechlin. The film has been screened by several major international film festivals. Noted American film critic Roger Ebert gave it 3.5 out of four stars. The 2012 Cannes ‘Fortnight’ saw the world premiere of Kashyap’s Gangs of Wasseypur, which also took place at the Toronto International Film Festival and the London Indian Film Festival.
It is no secret that Anurag Kashyap is a talented actor; he appeared in several films as a guest star, including Happy New Year, Tera Kya Hoga Johnny, Dev.D, Gulaal and Black Friday (2007). He played the role of a police officer in the movie Encounter 2010. He played a villain in the movie “Shagird” directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia in 2011. In the 2016 film “Akira”, directed by AR Murugadoss, he played a dishonest police officer. In 2018, he also appeared in the Tamil film Imaikkaa Nodigal.
