Biography of Andre Russell

Andre Dwayne Russell is a Jamaican professional cricketer who played for the West Indies and for Jamaica in the West Indian National Cricket as an all-rounder. He is considered as a world famous player who has played more than 300 Twenty20 (T20) matches for various teams around the world.

Russell broke records and scored a century in a record 40 balls in the 2018 Caribbean Premier League and scored a hat-trick in the same match. That made him the second player to score a hat-trick and score a century in the same T20 match.

Personal life

Andre Russell was born in Kingston, Jamaica to a middle-class Christian family. His father, Michael Russell, is a teacher and his mother is Sandra Travis. Among his four siblings, he is the eldest. The celebrity is very close to his family and he posts their cute pictures on Instagram. As a member of a poor and middle-class family, Russell’s mother initially wanted him to focus on cricket instead of completing his studies.

He eventually rose to the top of international cricket by working hard and playing with love. Russell married his girlfriend and longtime partner Jassym Lora who is a model by profession in 2016. In 2020, Rusell duo was blessed with a girl named Aaliyah Russell.

Domestic Carrer

He played for Barnards Green Cricket Club in Worcestershire, England to help them gain promotion from the Worcestershire Cricket League and the Birmingham Cricket League. On 21 September 2013, he became the first batsman in T20 cricket to take 4 consecutive wickets in one match against India A.

International Carrer

In November 2010, against Sri Lanka, Russell made his Test debut and the only Test match of his career. In the 2011 Cricket World Cup, he made his One Day International (ODI) debut against Ireland in Mohali.

Then his score in the ODI series against India. When he came to the crease at 96/7 in his third ODI, he scored 92 not out from 64 deliveries. He was named the player of the match in the 5th ODI against India at Sabina Park in Kingston.
