Mitchell Starc was born on January 30, 1990 in Baulkham Hills, New South Wales, Australia. He started school at Home Bush Boys High School in Sydney. Starc started playing cricket at the age of 9.

The Kolkata Knight Riders signed the left-handed pacer for the 2018 season but he did not play; He was later released from the franchise.
