Biography of Aman Gupta
Aman Gupta is the founder and CMO (Chief Marketing Officer) of Boat, an Indian consumer electronics brand that focuses on audio technology staples such as earphones, headphones, stereos, travel chargers, stainless steel cables, etc.
Aman Gupta’s company managed to generate a huge revenue of INR 500 crore in the financial year 2020 despite the outbreak of disease. Aman Gupta and Sameer Ashok Mehta partnered in November 2013 to start BOAT’s management company, Image Marketing Services Pvt. ltd.
After graduation, Amam Gupta worked in various establishments. He is the India Marketing Manager at Harman International, a powerhouse of audio products. In 2016, he founded “ship”. The “ship” began selling “popular audio equipment.”
They sold headphones, earphones, microphones, travel chargers and luxury packages for two years. They earned Rs 100 million from the real estate market in the first two years. Gupta attended public school in Delhi before earning a bachelor’s degree in commerce from Delhi University. Aman is a well-educated businessman.
He was later certified as a Chartered Accountant by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in India. He also earned a second Masters in Business Administration from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
Aman Gupta Educational Qualification
Aman completed his education at Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram. He is a graduate of Shaheed Bhagat Singh College, Delhi University (DU) where he earned a Bachelor of Commerce (B.COM) degree.
Aman is also a CA (Chartered Accountant) and has the record of being one of the youngest CAs in India. When Aman realized that he wanted to be an entrepreneur,
he did his first MBA at the Indian Business School (IBS). After that, Aman pursued his second MBA in General Management and Marketing in the United States. Gupta did his second MBA at the Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
Aman Gupta – Career
After obtaining his CA, he joined Citibank and worked there as an Assistant Manager till 2005. Aman, along with his father, established Advanced Telemedia Pvt Ltd in September 2005. He is the CEO and co-founder of the company. When his business was going strong, his wife asked him to go for an MBA.
He was accepted into the MBA (Finance and Strategy) program at the Indian School of Business in 2010. As an exchange student, he obtained an MBA (General Management and Marketing) from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management. After his MBA, he worked at KPMG as a Management Consultant (2011-2012) and at HARMAN International as Director – Sales (2012-2013).
In November 2013, Aman and Sameer Ashok Mehta founded Imagine Marketing Services Private Limited. It is the parent company of the boat brand. Aman is the co-founder and marketing director of the company. boAt has quickly gained popularity and is currently ranked among the top five wearable brands in India. Aman Gupta’s persistence and learning from his mistakes helped him create a niche in the industry.
Foundation of BoAt
Sameer Mehta and Aman Gupta co-founded boAt, a company specializing in fashion audio products. In the first two years, the company sold high-end headphones, earphones, speakers, travel chargers and cables.
The company’s indestructible chargers and chargers have entered the market because the originals bend and break near the edges. The robust boat rope has a lifespan of 10,000 bends and is priced at Rs 1,500, lower than the original charger and rope.
What motivated the founders of the ship?
Aman Gupta previously held the position of Assistant Manager at CitiBank, but due to his passion for marketing, he joined JBL in 2012 as the Corporate Marketing Director. There he can see how the company is presented in different ways.
Aman was developing a strong desire to start his business. So, in 2014, Amand and his friend Sameer Mehta launched boAt Lifestyle as a startup company.
At first, they sold iPhone charging cables, which were inconvenient and made iOS customers suffer. So they made better cables for the iPhone, which they started selling on e-commerce platforms like Amazon, Flipkart, and others. It was their first attempt, which was successful.
Aman was drawn to the audio industry during his time at JBL, so he developed an in-depth research. He found that the prices of all high-end products in India are high and since they are sold by international brands, consumers are interested in buying them.
However, no product is cheap; at that time, it was only the Chinese and other cheap products where they compromised quality. Sameer Mehta and Aman Gupta, the founders, wanted to establish a lifestyle that dealt with edge-focused technology. So they decided to fill the gaps that led to the boAt.
A challenge
The company revealed that its products were made in China due to the anti-China sentiment in India that led to the boycott of Chinese goods during the 2021 Sino-Indian conflict.
Many Chinese-made products were targeted because of the conflict. in opposition to the Chinese advance. hurt. Boat said the manufacturing revolution in India, referring to the Indian government’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) program for wearables as a basis, but no loss due to China’s ideas.
The company has entered into a partnership with Indian electronics manufacturer Dixon Technologies to produce its wireless audio equipment in the country rather than China.
Awards and achievements
In 2019, he won the Businesswrold Young Entrepreneur Award and was one of the under 40 in 2020. Next in 2020, he won entrepreneur of the Year. Later, in 2021, he won the Lokmat Entrepreneur of the Year. Similarly, he was listed in the Top 25 Indian Tech Entrepreneur class in 2019.
Its brand has established itself as a reference among the best brands in the world. Finally, in 2021, it was listed in less than 40 Economic Times.
